Welcome to Bucks Students' Union 2026-27 Video
Project Overview
I created a promotional video for Bucks Students’ Union to welcome new and returning students ahead of the upcoming academic year. The aim of the project was to showcase the opportunities, support, events, and experiences available through the Students’ Union, helping new members understand how they can get involved from the moment they arrive.
I developed the concept, planned the content, filmed and edited the final video, creating an engaging piece of content that reflected the energy and community of student life at Bucks. The video combined dynamic visuals, student-focused messaging, and the Union’s brand identity to create an exciting introduction to what students can expect throughout the year.

Project Overview
The Students' Union Awards celebrate the achievements of student leaders, volunteers, societies and representatives across the academic year. I was tasked with creating a showcase video to be premiered during the awards ceremony, reflecting on the impact of the Union's work and celebrating key achievements from the year.
My Role
- Developed the creative concept and structure for the video
- Wrote the script and worked closely with Sabbatical Officers to film bespoke segments
- Captured the majority of the footage used throughout the year at events, campaigns and student activities
- Edited the final video using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
- Managed audio, motion graphics, transitions and overall narrative flow
Approach
The challenge was to condense a full academic year of activity into a concise and engaging film that would resonate with a live audience. Drawing from footage collected across multiple events and campaigns, I created a narrative that highlighted student achievements, major milestones and the impact of the Students' Union.
Working collaboratively with the Sabbatical Officers, I scripted and filmed additional content to provide context and strengthen the storytelling.
Outcome
The video was premiered to an audience of more than 200 students, staff and guests at the annual Students' Union Awards ceremony. Feedback from attendees and colleagues was overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting that the video effectively captured the achievements, impact and spirit of the Union over the academic year.
The project showcased my skills in storytelling, videography, stakeholder collaboration and end-to-end video production.
Athletic Union Dinner 2026
Project Overview
The Athletic Union Dinner video was created to celebrate the achievements, experiences and personal journeys of students involved in competitive sport at Buckinghamshire New University. The aim was to showcase the impact of sport beyond performance, highlighting community, wellbeing, personal development and student experience.
My Role
- Planned and structured the narrative for a long-form feature video
- Recorded and directed approximately two hours of interview footage with student athletes
- Selected and integrated additional sports footage captured throughout the academic year
- Edited the final 8-minute video using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
- Shaped the storytelling, pacing, and emotional tone of the final piece
Process
The project involved distilling extensive interview material into a concise, engaging narrative that could resonate with a live audience. I reviewed and organised hours of footage, identifying key themes such as camaraderie, personal growth, resilience and community within university sport. These interviews were combined with match and training footage filmed throughout the year to visually support and enhance the storytelling. Careful attention was given to pacing, emotional build, and continuity to ensure the final video felt cohesive and impactful.
Working collaboratively with the Sabbatical Officers, I scripted and filmed additional content to provide context and strengthen the storytelling.
Outcome
The finished 8-minute video was premiered at the Athletic Union Dinner in front of students, staff and guests. It was met with strong audience engagement, with attendees reacting positively throughout the screening. Senior leadership also highlighted the impact of the video externally. The CEO of the Students’ Union praised the piece on LinkedIn, describing it as a powerful representation of student sport and highlighting the sense of community, inclusivity, and personal development within the Athletic Union. He noted that the audience “cheered throughout” and described the evening as a “massive win” for showcasing the value of sport at university.
The project demonstrated my ability to craft long-form narrative content, work with sensitive interview material, and translate extensive footage into a compelling and emotionally engaging final product.
Social Media Posts
Overview
A key part of my role involved creating and managing social media content, primarily for Instagram, to promote student engagement, highlight Union activity, and communicate key campaigns and opportunities. Content was designed to increase awareness of services, encourage participation, and showcase the benefits of being part of Bucks Students’ Union.
My Role
- Planned, designed and published Instagram content across a range of campaigns and student-facing initiatives
- Worked collaboratively with multiple departments including events, sport, marketing, advice, and commercial services
- Translated complex information into engaging, accessible and visually appealing social media content
- Promoted key themes including student involvement, campaign awareness, SU services, and student benefits
- Developed both static and motion content tailored for Instagram feed posts, stories and reels
Key Campaign Work
Bucks SU “Spotify Wrapped” Campaign (2025)One of the standout projects was the creation of a “Bucks SU Wrapped” campaign, inspired by Spotify Wrapped. This involved working closely with all departments across the Union to collect data and transform it into a highly engaging, student-focused social media post.
To support the campaign, I used Canva to develop a custom visual identity inspired by Spotify Wrapped 2025, adapting its recognisable branding style to fit Bucks Students’ Union. This ensured the campaign felt familiar, trend-led and highly engaging while remaining aligned with the organisation’s brand guidelines.
The content showcased a range of key statistics from across the year, including:
- Number of drinks sold through SU venues
- Number of events delivered
- Student engagement and participation figures
- Key highlights from services and activities
Impact
The campaign helped highlight the scale and impact of the Students’ Union in a creative and accessible way, increasing engagement and encouraging students to interact with and share the content. It also strengthened cross-department collaboration by bringing together data from across the organisation into a unified storytelling piece.
Instagram Reels & Short-Form Video Content
Project Overview
As part of my role at Bucks Students' Union, I regularly create short-form video content for Instagram and other social media platforms. These reels range from trend-based content and campaign promotion to event coverage and student engagement pieces, helping to increase visibility, encourage participation and showcase student life.
My Role
- Planned, filmed and edited short-form video content for social media
- Adapted content to suit platform trends and audience behaviours
- Captured footage at live events, campaigns and student activities
- Edited videos using fast-paced storytelling techniques, music and transitions
- Delivered content within tight deadlines to maximise relevance and engagement
Featured Project: Varsity 2025 Reel
Varsity is one of the largest sporting events in the student calendar, bringing together teams and supporters from across the university. My objective was to capture the atmosphere and emotion of the day while creating a reel that reflected the sense of community surrounding university sport. Throughout the event, I filmed a wide variety of sports, athletes and supporters, documenting key moments from across the day. The following day, I edited the footage into a short-form highlight reel, combining music, dynamic transitions and carefully selected clips to tell the story of the event. Rather than focusing solely on sporting performance, the reel was designed to showcase the camaraderie between teams, the support from spectators, the energy of the competition and the celebration of winning the Varsity trophy. The final piece captured not only the results of the day but also the friendships, teamwork and sense of belonging that make student sport such a valuable part of university life.

Branding
Using Blender to create a visually striking artwork for the homepage of my website, to engage my audience and stand out from competition. To create this I sketched out my design, photographed it and uploaded it to blender, I then turned it into a 3D model and set the lighting, background and camera position to get the perfect GIF.
Created a brand style guide to reflect the fun, quirky and creative brand of Cashew the Cactus using vibrant colours to be memorable to consumers and to stand out from my competitors. I decided to use green as my primary colour because it represents sustainability and I chose this font to convey whimsy and joy to people visiting my website.
Photography

The Brunel Engine Shed — A photoshoot exploring the multifunctional character of this converted café, museum, and office space. I used the building's architecture to frame each shot, relying entirely on available natural light to capture the interplay between the space's industrial heritage and its modern-day use. Shot on a Canon 6D Mark II.
Students Union Merch Campaign — A promotional photoshoot for the union's merchandise line, shot across both studio and outdoor locations to give a versatile set of assets for social media. I drew on reference imagery to develop poses and compositions tailored to appeal to a young, student-aged audience, balancing product visibility with a more dynamic, lifestyle-driven feel.

Brand Partnership Product Shoot — A promotional photoshoot produced in exchange for products supplied by external brands to the students union. I organised and directed models on location, framing and composing each shot to create engaging, brand-appropriate imagery, then carried out a high standard of post-production editing to deliver polished, publish-ready material.

This shoot was created to celebrate Rusty's Retreat, a garden project run entirely by students. I photographed the plants throughout the space to capture the results of their work, with the aim of using the images to promote the project and encourage more members to get involved.
